Pokenbir – Setting Aside Cholesterol Just for a Day

Whats nomming on everyone? Hope you are all doing fine πŸ˜€ We are back with a short review of a place that is recommended by a close friend of ours. Heading South, Pokenbir is located in one of the office tower in Setiabudi area. When we first heard about the name, we thought this place is a bar or a solid place to chill. However, our friend told us that the word β€œPokenbir” is originated from the combination of β€œpork” and β€œbeer” and it all make sense now. Like the name, Pokenbir is famous for their broad range of tasty pork meat! Let us set aside cholesterols at the moment and jump into our review.

Before coming there, we decided to call the restaurant first to check whether or not they are full house. Because believe us, Pokenbir’s queue on lunch and dinner time either its weekday or weekend is jam-packed. Luckily we queue just only for a while because we reached around 6PM. After we got our table, the queue began countless outside the restaurant like the one in the picture.

Melted Cheese Pork French FriesΒ

Before dancing in our tummy, we start off the dinner with Melted Cheese Pork French Fries (Rp. 65K). We personally love the melted cheese pork just because the amount of cheese they give to us is not too little and enough to cover all the French fries top.

Since our close friend is a big fan of this place, so he chooses the menu for us. On that day, we decided to order the menus that almost noticeable in every tables which includes their famous Pork Belly (small size) and Indonesian Big Pork Rice.

Indonesian Big Pork Rice

At first we thought this place only serves westernized pork dishes, however turns out they serve a big place (literally big) of Indonesian Big Pork Rice (Rp. 235K) that could decently covers 4 people. Indonesian Big Pork Rice basically served with 1 type of stir-fried vegetables and 5 types of pork including Bumbu Woku, Bumbu Rica, Bumbu Bali, Gravy and also deep fried pork. They also serve 2 types of chili including Sambal Matah and Cabe Ijo.

3 Main Sauce: Mustard, Chili Sauce & Sweet Soy Sauce

Lastly, we want to introduce the thing that steals our attention the most… Its none other than the Pork Belly (Rp. 95K). A tip that we can share in ordering this dish is that the small portion is already enough if you are only 3-4 people and you can ask them to cut it half so that you will get smaller pieces to enjoy. Flavor and texture wise, the pork belly is very crunchy and tasty. With the combination of the mustard, chili sauce and the sweet soy sauce, this dish is nothing but a sinful yet super worth every of the calories. Monnomz will definitely come back to munch this goodness!

If you are a pork lover, you definitely should try out this place. We recommend bringing some friends so that you can share the dishes since the portion they are serving is quite big. Well we guess that’s all for this week. Until the next post, stay blessed and stay safe πŸ˜€ God bless you!
