So without further ado lets jump in to our review. This time we’re going to bring you to taste a glimpse of famous Hawaiian poké bowl in Kemang, which is none other than in Honu Poké and Matcha Bar.

HONU’s Iconic Green Wall

Prepping Area

Seating Area

We have been seeing this cute poké bowl shop through its iconic green wall everywhere on Instagram. After being curious for quite awhile we finally had the chance to go there ourselves for a saturdate. For those of you who is not familiar with poké bowl, it is mainly a Hawaiian cuisine with raw fish as its main ingredients which is usually served as a salad or even with rice in Asian countries. In case if you are wondering how do they make the poké bowl, you can directly go to the prepping area near the entrance. Located in the middle of a hip neighbourhood, this place is quite different as it is very cozy and chilling with a few tiki touches here and there just to give you the Hawaiian vibe.

Two & Two Poké Bowl

We wish to try all the varieties of poké bowl they serve since its very had to choose between Salmon or Tuna as the main ingredients. However we decided to go for Two & Two (Rp. 50K) for our first main course because why choose one when we can the best of both worlds. It consisted of Salmon and Tuna sashimi, lettuce, carrots and a decent amount go tempura crunch mixed with creamy sauce wakame that adds a salty taste to the whole elements which is bonds the dish perfectly in some way. HONU allows the customer to choose their rice between the normal sushi rice or brown rice. Besides that HONU also offers two different sizes for each of its poké bowl in small or regular size. For the Two & Two we ordered the small bowl and chose sushi rice as the base.

Bonfire – Not So Poké

For the second dish we chose to try menu from the “Not So Poke” category, Bonfire (Rp. 75K) which is also popular according to the person on the counter. Same like the first dish we also use sushi rice as the base for our poké bowl however this time we order it in the bigger (reg) size. It consist of Salmon with (legit) creamy sauce that is awesomeee in taste with other condiments like lettuce, carrots, pickled cucumber, spring onion and salmon skin. Sometimes when we eat creamy dish with rice it might turn out to be too much, however the creamy sauce on BONFIRE did not overpower the rice and all the condiments at all.

Opening Ceremony

Besides food, we also ordered Opening Ceremony (Rp. 40K) which is a hot ceremonial Grade Matcha. The name of the drink is very eye catching when we first saw the menu that is why we decided to order it. However because our expectation is already up above, we are a little sad because the taste didn’t meet our expectation. Although the matcha taste very concentrated but it was not really that far from the ocha / other matcha tea that we usually drink.

Yugo Salad

Just when we thought ordering 2 dishes is enough, we just can’t get enough of their delicious poké bowl which is why we ordered the second batch. This time we want something light so we go for Yugo (Rp. 50K) with greens as the base making it a perfect salad to fulfil our not-so-hungry tummy. The thing about HONU is that they give a decent amount of sashimi which is why it was worth every penny that we spent. But maybe because of the amount of shoyu sauce, the Yugo salad ended up a bit salty.

Matcha Latte

Because of the first drink that did not really wow us, we decided to order Matcha Latte (Rp. 35K) to cure the scorching weather. We favored this drink a lot more than the first one because the Matcha taste really stood up and its sweetness is just nice. No wonder this place called a matcha bar!!

HONU’s Cozy Corner

Pardon Our OOTD Picture

Along with all the goodness in their dishes and drinks, this cute place offers a very instaworthy spot in every of its corner. Even though the place is not that spacious, they managed to even have a cute corner in the back of the restaurant where almost everyone took a picture there when we visit (including us). PS. pardon our impromptu ootd shot, we just can’t help it hahaha!

Right now, there are tons of new cute and conceptual dining places that has instaworthy spot to take pictures. However there are only a few of those succeed in delivering good food, including HONU. Thanks to this place, we’re officially a big fan of poke bowl right now and we will definitely come back here again!! That is all for today, stay tune and stay hungry!! Have a blessed day readers 😀
